When your son does something which makes an entire nation sing his praises, you have every right to get ecstatic. It was something similar for Karun Nair’s parents, who were in the Chepauk stands, watching their son get to the magical 300 mark.
It had not been an easy start for Karun Nair in his International cricket, as he failed to impress in his first two innings. With his place under the scrutiny, something incredibly special was required to ensure he stays in contention and boy, he did something absolutely spectacular.
Yes, there were few chances put down by England, three precisely. Drop catches from Alastair Cook and Joe Root to go with a missed stumping from Jonny Bairstow. It was a script written in heaven and Karun delivered his dialogues with perfection is the only thing we can say.
“We — my wife also — are in the stadium watching our son play this innings. Right from age 10, cricket was in his blood and he has come up the hard way by playing. He played five years of First Class cricket and then two years in the Ranji circuit before reaching here,” said Karun Nair’s father Kaladharan Nair.
Here is what Karun’s parents had to say after their son registered only the third triple ton in Indian history.
