Chris Woakes, the fast bowling all-rounder had a terrific season with both bat and ball for England in 2016. He picked up 41 wickets with the ball and made himself to place his name on the list.
Though he is a first change option in fast bowling the absence of Anderson made him to bowling with new ball which was utilised exceptionally well by Woakes. He appeared in 12 tests and picked up 41 wickets with the best figures of 6/70.
