In the last decade or so, we have seen a dramatic rise of T20 cricket. Power hitting, all out entertainment, on and off the field have gone a level further and Darren Sammy’s role in the rise of T20 cricket is something really laudable.

After lifting the World Cup in 1979, West Indies in a way had fallen apart and it took them 33 years to win a World Cup again, but this time in the shorter format. 4 years later in 2016, Darren Sammy and boys had replicated what they did in 2012 and won the World T20 for the second time in the most dramatic way possible.

Darren Sammy T20 career statistics speaks volumes of the kind of impact player he is. He played 231 T20 matches for various clubs and country and notched 2,807 runs to go with 152 wickets.

A captain par excellence, an ever reliable lower order batsman and most importantly, one of the greatest entertainers the game has seen, Darren Sammy turns 33 today and the entire team of Cricspirit.com wishes him a Happy Birthday!
