Regent Plaza Hotel in Karachi suffered a major crisis in the form of fire mishap. The Pakistani first class and international players were staying in that hotel when this horrendous incident happened. Two of the Pakistani cricketers got injured while trying to escape and run for their lives in this chaotic situation.

The ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was the reason the United Bank Limited (UBL) first class team was staying there in that hotel to play their super eight stage match against Habib Bank Limited (HBL).

Yasim Murtaza is an all-rounder who plays for United Bank Limited who got injured when he was trying to jump from the accident play from second floor to the first floor. He sustained a heel injury while the other one who got injured was leg spinner Karamat Ali who also plays for the same team got his hand injured in the process.

The statement coming out from Saddar Police Station stated, “The blaze broke out in the kitchen located at the ground floor of the four-star hotel located on the city’s Shahrah-i-Faisal, and swept through the building, trapping scores of hotel guests in their rooms.” As of now, eleven people are dead in this horrible tragic incident while 75 are in hospital for their respective injuries.

Sohaib Maqsood, a well known Pakistan international cricketer who has represented his country in about 26 One-Day Internationals and 20 Twenty20 Internationals was also caught up in this mishap but he got away in time and didn’t suffer any major injuries. He also helped others to rescue out in the process.

Pakistan Cricket Board cancelled the game following trauma from which the players are suffering and gave one point each to both of the teams. Obviously after this type of horrific incident, anyone could be well shook from inside.
