Temba Bavuma was seen sleeping during the captain day event, later on clarified the scenario.

The ICC cricket World Cup is all set to begin with a lot of pomp and show from tomorrow onwards. The entire cricketing world will be glued to their TV sets for the upcoming 45 days as the biggest cricketing carnival would tak ethe centre stage. The tournament will provide all the cricketing sides to prove their worth on the biggest stage for the first time in four years. Prior to the beginning of the tournament, a captain’s meet was held this time too just like the previous editions of the tournament. Amidst several incidents, one that drew a lot of attention from the the netizens was linked with none other than the South African Captain – Temba Bavuma.

The captains of all the ten participating nations were made to sit in front of the host of journalists and several young fans too. The questions with regard to the game and tournament in particular were being asked one after the other. It was however midway between the event that Temba Bavuma was caught taking a quick little nap while staying seated besides Dasun Shanaka. His picture began being posted on a number of social media platforms with the caption that read “Temba Bavuma is sleeping during the captain’s meet”.

Bavuma’s reaction who later on saw the picture of him on the internet was that of annoyance. The South African skipper gave his clarification with regard to the incident. He replied to the post made by England’s Barmy Army account of Twitter with regard to the incident saying ,”I blame the camera angle, i wasn’t sleeping”. Thus it was the camera angle which made us all think that Bavuma was sleeping while he was perhaps just looking down on the floor.

To talk about South Africa’s recent form in the ODI formats, they have been quite sensational. The team has been delivering consistent performances against strong sides in the recent past. The side consists of several star players including Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Quinton De Kock and many others, each of whom have the ability to turn the game altogether all by themselves. It remains to be seen as to how well the Proteas are able to perform in the upcoming mega event.
