After a solid partnership from Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel, India have made a solid comeback in the ongoing Champions Trophy match at the Dubai International Stadium. As it now stands, it’s becoming more and more difficult for Pakistan to find a breath in the match, and they might as well get virtually knocked out of the tournament after this match.
India put a strong footing in the match from the very beginning after dismissing Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq in consecutive overs. It was looking like Pakistan was in big trouble but then captain Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel took the reins of the innings. Saud Shakeel scored 62 off 76 while Mohammad Rizwan scored 46 off 77. Although both their strike rates were low, especially considering the way the other teams have been playing in the tournament so far, it was perhaps the need of the hour because Pakistan had already lost two big wickets.

However, when Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel took the wickets of Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan, respectively, things started to fall apart for Pakistan. Salman Ali Agha and Tayyab Tahir tried to have another partnership that could take them to a respectable total but in vein. Rohit Sharma sent in Ravindra Jadeja to break the budding partnership and he stood up to the task.
In the very first ball of the 37th over, he completely tricked Tayyab Tahir with an off-spin that moved just slightly off the mark and did the job. It hit the middle stump and Tayyab Tahir had to depart. The wicket of Salman Ali Agha fell shortly afterwards.
