Indian captain Virat Kohli is honoured by the Barmy Army of England as the player of the year award for 2017 and 2018. Indian team is currently engaged in the warm-up game against the Sussex and county ground, Chelmsford, before taking on England for the 5-match test series.
The Indian captain Virat Kohli, who had a forgetful tour of England in 2014, is in the fine touch with the bat once again and managed to carry forward his ODI series form further. In the only warm-up game, he played an elegant knock 68 off 93 balls with the help of 12 boundaries.
Barmy Army honour Virat Kohli
Barmy Army, the famous body of English fans, acknowledge Indian captain Virat Kohli for his impressive show with the bat in 2017 and 2018. Barmy Army present two trophies to the Indian captain, honouring him for his dominance in the world cricket. BCCI took to Twitter and informed that the Indian captain has been honoured by the Barmy Army. “Say cheese 📸📸 The @TheBarmyArmy presents #TeamIndia Captain @imVkohli with the International Player of the Year for years 2017 and 2018.”, reads the tweet.
Virat Kohli was the highest scorer in the One-Day Internationals (ODIs) 1,460 runs in 26 games at an average of 76.84 in 2017. He scored a total of six centuries and seven fifties in the 50-over format. While in Test cricket, he was equally brilliant, scoring a total of 1059 runs in the 10 test matches he played.
He took his amazing form to the ODI series against South Africa as well, scoring more than 500 runs in the 6-match series. His sublime form was the reason India managed to win ODI series against South Africa 5-1.
Virat Kohli would surely like to carry forward the momentum he has gained to the upcoming test series against England. England is the only venue where Virat Kohli has struggled. Although the kind of form he is in, many experts believe Kohli will shed away the previous disappointing tour of England.
