India’s wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik just may be able to extend his stay in England. The Tamil Nadu born cricketer played his last test match against Afghanistan recently. Dinesh Karthik has been in good form recently and it could work in his favour.
With Wriddhiman Saha still unsure about playing in the test series starting from 1st August, Dinesh Karthik will be preferred as the Tamil Nadu cricketer will make it to the test squad. Given his recent good form, it is expected that Dinesh Karthik will be preferred over Parthiv Patel.
Dinesh Karthik and others might make it back to the test team
As per reports in Times of India, the veteran wicketkeeper could be preferred over struggling Parthiv Patel. One of the main reasons why Dinesh Karthik will be preferred over Parthiv Patel is the top form Dinesh Karthik is in, particularly in the past one year he has got a lot better and his hard work paid off when he took India to the Nidahas trophy glory against Bangladesh. He was also clinical in Kolkata Knight Riders good run the recently concluded IPL 2018.
Apart from Dinesh Karthik, Indian pacer Mohammad Shami could also make it back to the test squad. Shami has cleared the Yo-Yo test and is expected to join Team India soon in England. Given his ability to swing the ball, he will be a vital factor in the test against England. As the dew factor in England comes in the help of the bowlers, the inclusion of Mohammad Shami will be a huge plus point.
It is also learnt that another fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who is struggling with the fractured thumb, has not yet recovered fully. As per reports, the chances are very much likely that he might miss the first test.
Still, Indian has a lot of fire-power and could take on the hosts England. Players like Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan will add more strength to the batting line-up. As Virat Kohli has already mentioned the possible inclusion of Kuldeep Yadav in the tests, it could also be more advantageous to the visitors.
