England batting coach Graham Thorpe has urged his players to keep an ‘open mind’ against Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Kuldeep Yadav simply ripped through England batting line-up as the bowler took his career-best figures of 6 for 25 to took India to victory in the first ODI.

Kuldeep Yadav showed what he is capable of doing in the T20 series. This led to England deploy ‘Merlyn’ the bowling machine to help England batsman in playing the spin. Although even that could not help and Kuldeep Yadav produced one of the most outstanding displays of bowling for India. England batsmen simply appeared helpless against Kuldeep Yadav.

We need to formulate plans to tackle Kuldeep, says Graham Thorpe

As per reports in AFP, England batting coach Graham Thorpe that the players need to stick to some proper planning in order to tackle Kuldeep Yadav. India are a very good measure of where we are at “The one thing about him (Kuldeep) playing is that you start to formulate plans. The more you face the trajectory the flight, the speed of the ball, they’re the things you pick up on. You’ve also got to set up as a player against it your method, your footwork, your position on the crease”, says Graham Thorpe.

England coach further added that Kuldeep Yadav was simply outstanding in tackling the England batsmen. Although he urged his players to move forward and must look at how to play against the Indian spinner. “He shut us down and you have to give him credit. It’s up to us and our players to keep an open mind, accept it’s happened, but we’ve got to turn it around pretty quickly as we are playing again on Saturday”, further adds the coach.

The team of England that looked absolutely flawless against Australia in the 5-match ODI series is suddenly struggling against the Indian team led by Virat Kohli. India are clearly the better side between the two and with more variation in the bowling attack than the hosts, India are confident to win the second series of the tour.
