Former Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan is unarguably the most successful bowler of all times. The Sri Lankan spin legend holds the record of most test wickets to his name. The right-arm off-spinner took a total of 800 wickets in his 133 test matches with the incredible average of 22.72.
Muralitharan on many occasions single-handedly won the game for Sri Lanka. The spinner has played for franchises like Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past is now the bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Being a bowling coach, he knows the challenges bowlers of this generation face while bowling in the age of T20.
It is not easy to bowl these days, says Muralitharan
As per reports in PTI, former Sri Lankan player says it is easy to be a bowler in the age of T20. “It was easier to bowl during our times. Now the game has evolved and it is not easy to bowl. We did not play too much T20s and in Tests, they didn’t hit as many sixes like they do today,” says Muttiah Muralitharan who took a total of 534 wickets for Sri Lanka in 350 One-day games he played.
1996 World Cup victory was most important for Sri Lanka, further adds Muttiah Muralitharan
Speaking further, former Sri Lankan legend Muralitharan says the clinching of 1996 ICC world cup was the most important thing for Sri Lankan cricket. “I would cherish my 1996 World Cup win as that was the most important thing for Sri Lankan cricket. For Sunrisers, it was when we won the IPL trophy in 2016,” further adds Muralitharan.
Although Sunrisers Hyderabad is without their former captain David Warner who has missed this year’s IPL all due to his involvement in ball-tampering scandal against South Africa, they have still managed to win all three of their matches so far. The team of Sunrisers Hyderabad has undoubtedly one of the best bowling attacks in the IPL 2018 and they have managed to restrict the opponent inside 150 runs.
