IPL 2018: Dhoni’s “bad back” adds more to the list of CSK injury woes

The camp of Chennai Super Kings is not worried about taking on any opponent. Currently, the franchise is struggling with the injury to some of its players. Suresh Raina, Faf Du Plessis and Kedar Jadhav are some of its players who are injured. Although Suresh Raina and Faf Du Plessis are expected to play soon as their injury is not as severe, Kedar Jadhav has been ruled out from the entire tournament after his hamstring injury.

Now to add more worries to CSK camp, looks like it’s most valuable player Mahendra Singh Dhoni might miss a game or two in the IPL 2018. During the game against Kings XI Punjab, Dhoni was clearly seen in the pain. He even got treatment on his back during his innings 0f 79 runs, in which he hit 5 sixes and 6 boundaries.

It is bad and I don’t know how bad it is yet, says MS Dhoni

As per quotes in ESPNcricinfo, CSK captain MS Dhoni says they have yet to assess the injury. “It’s bad; how bad it is, I don’t know. God has given me the power. I don’t need to use the back a lot, the hands can do the job. But overall, we’ll assess how bad it is. It shouldn’t be too bad because I know what really happened and once you know the kind of injury it is, it becomes slightly easy to get out of it and also we have three-four days now before the next game. I’m quite used to playing with few injuries, whether it is back, fingers, elbow or something else. You have to be tough and get on with the game”, says former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Coach Stephen Fleming is proud of character shown by Dhoni

CSK coach Stephen Fleming is all praise of character and efforts shown by Dhoni and the team. “We’ve seen teams that do that so we have to reassess that and make sure we’ve got the right combination. But we’re not too far away, we’ve scrapped and been competing in each game so far and almost got across the line today. So there’s not much to moan about. The tournament’s still pretty early, so to have two wins out of three with injuries and a bit of drama with our home ground, we’ll probably take that”, says Coach Stephen Fleming.

CSK might have some minor injury concerns, but once these players get back to their normal, Chennai Super Kings will surely get the rhythm and confidence back. Even after the loss against Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings is still on the third spot of the team’s table in IPL 2018.
