After a convincing victory of 6 wickets over Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders are still very much in the race of making it to playoffs for IPL 2018. The team managed to hold nerves during the key moments and won the without any hiccups.
The hero of the match was Kolkata’s spinner Kuldeep Yadav who took a total of 4 wickets in the match. One of the main reasons for Kolkata’s dominance was Kuldeep Yadav simply ran over Rajasthan Royals batting line-up. He took the key wickets of Jos Butter, Ajinkya Rahane, Ben Stokes and Stuart Binny. At one stage, Rajasthan were all set for a big total but Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling rattled them entirely. Kuldeep reveals which two wickets were crucial for him.

Speaking with the media at the post-match conference, left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav says the wickets of Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane and later of Jos Buttler were crucial. “Rahane wicket was very important for me. It was my first over and they were some 70 plus for one in six overs and going good. So Ajju bhai’s wicket was very important and later on, that of Jos Buttler”, says the man of the match Kuldeep Yadav.

Speaking further, the wrist spinner explains why he was successful in the game against Rajasthan Royals. “I had become defensive; I was thinking ‘let me try and choke the run flow’. But then, I am not that kind of bowler. It is only when I attack that I get wickets most of the time. That is my strength”, further quotes Kuldeep Yadav who became the leading wicket-taker in the South Africa-India ODI series with 17 wickets.
With another dominating performance, Kolkata Knight Riders have grabbed the third place in the points table. The team now has to win the last remaining game against Sunrisers Hyderabad to make it to the playoffs. The game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will be played on 19th May on Saturday.
