Sydney Thunders re-sign Chennai Super Kings all-rounder

Sydney Thunders have signed a two-year extension with Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Shane Watson. 37-year old Shane Watson was in superb touch in the recently concluded IPL 2018, where he scored a superb century in the final which took his team Chennai Super Kings to the IPL glory.

The former Australian player, is still very much active in the T20 leagues, particularly in IPL and BBL. Shane Watson is still keen to play on and help nurture the Thunder’s emerging talent. Shane Watson is excited to help Sydney Thunders enhancing the next generation of Australian cricketers.

Shane Watson is excited after extending his contract with the Thunders

As per reports in, the former Australian all-rounder says he is excited to play for a few more years for Sydney Thunders. “It’s exciting to be able to get a few more years with the Thunder. It was nice to be able to contribute last season as well as throughout the PSL (Pakistan Super League) and IPL. Part of Sydney Thunder is developing the next generation of Australian cricketers. We’ve got a lot of young talent, and the squad will be younger next season”, says Shane Watson.

Apart from Shane Watson, Syndey Thunders have signed fast bowler Daniel Sams. Daniel Sams impressed many while playing in his maiden Big Bash League (BBL) for the Sydney Sixers. Daniel Sams says he is excited to be the part of the Sydney Thunders this season.

“The Thunder Academy was really enjoyable and I took a few new things away from it. It was really valuable for me. I’ve gained a lot of confidence. I’m looking forward to getting back out there and being successful, hopefully getting Thunder to the finals and winning a trophy”, says Daniel Sams.

The kind of form Shane Watson displayed in the recently concluded IPL certainly convinced the Sydney Thunders who went on extending the contract for Shane Watson. The 37-year old all-rounder scored a total of 555 runs in the whole tournament with the help of 2 centuries.
