With just 2 weeks remaining for the test series against England, Team India wants to make sure the players get enough opportunity to adapt to the English conditions. Players like Cheteshwar Pujara and Ishant Sharma have already been engaged in the county cricket to get acclimatise in the conditions.

Two of India’s most vital test batsmen, Ajinkya Rahane and Murali Vijay, are not the part of the ODI team. The players are not even involved in the county cricket. So in order to make sure they will get enough time to adapt to the conditions, they are involved in the India ‘A’ team and will play in the game against England Lions.

Rahane and Vijay to join India ‘A’ team

As per reports in PTI, both Ajinkya Rahane and Murali Vijay have been included in the squad that will take on England Lions County Ground in Worcester. Rahane and Vijay are two of the most vital players of the Indian Test squad, but since they are not in the ODI team or haven’t played any country cricket as well, they definitely need more red-ball match time.

So in order to make sure they will get ample opportunity to set themselves in the English conditions, the selectors, after consultation with the team management and A team coach Rahul Dravid, had finalised the plan.

Both Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane were clinical during India’s visit to South Africa and both batsmen managed to hold up against the fierce bowling attack of South Africa.

Both Ajinkya Rahane and Murali Vijay were in good form during India’s tour of England in 2014. While Vijay scored a century in the first Test against England at Nottingham, Rahane managed to get his name in the elite list of players who have scored the century at the Lord’s cricket ground, London. India managed to win the one and only Lord’s test on their last tour.
