Virat Kohli’s wicket is a priced one in the Indian team. The visitors Australia were able to keep the Indian skipper mum in the ODI series with only one substantial score of 92. It is seldom seen that Kohli was not able to carry on after getting starts and it came as a surprise as he got out in the 20s and the 30s a couple of times in the five-match series.
The tourist’s wicketkeeper for T20I series Tim Paine revealed that the Australian team has got their plans in place for the best-limited overs batsman Virat Kohli and the team would try their best to execute them. It was noted that the visitors had a good plan in the first match of the series, where they exploited the Indian batsmen by bowling wide outside the off stump and Virat Kohli also had fallen for the bait.
Kohli’s wicket would be imperative for the visitors
Nathan Coulter-Nile was able to get the better off the Indian skipper on three occasions out of the five times in the series, two of which came as Kohli played on to his stumps. Coulter-Nile was the leading wicket-taker of the ODI series and would aim to continue his recent success against Virat Kohli.
Tim Paine said while to talking to reporters on the eve before the first T20I, “He’s (Kohli) really a good player. Not many teams had much success against him. He’s a huge wicket tomorrow night and in the whole series. We had a brief chat about him in the team meeting last night. I don’t want to get into the details. We certainly have got a couple of plans, we will see how it goes”.
If the visitors can get Virat Kohli wicket early, it would give them a shot in the arm. The Australian team would be led by their deputy David Warner as full-time skipper Steven Smith has returned back due to a shoulder injury. Having lost the ODI series, the visitors will aim to get back to winning ways in the T20I series.
