England talisman all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is out from the England squad all due to his Bristol brawl in September 2017, has been included in the Test squad for the upcoming two-Test match series against New Zealand.
Apart from Ben Stokes, Lancashire batsman Liam Livingstone got his maiden Test call from the England and Wales Cricket Board. Seamer Mark Wood, who was out from the team all due to injury, has also been included in the two Test match series against New Zealand starting from 22nd March.
Stokes’ Availability still depends on Court’s decision, said ECB
England selectors said Stokes’ inclusion is still subject to the disciplinary developments in his Bristol case. “Should the ECB Board receive formal confirmation that Stokes has either been charged or that he will face no charges, they would convene within 48 hours to make a decision on his availability for the team at that stage,” they said in a statement.
Liam Livingstone’s good form earned him a place in the National team.
Liam Livingstone was in great form with Lancashire and National selector James Whitaker said they were observing Liam for some time. “Liam has been a player that we have been impressed with for quite some time, having performed well in the county system with Lancashire and over the past couple of years with the England Lions,” he said.
They also emphasize Liam’s talent and his qualities. “He is a very talented and tough cricketer who has the ideal qualities and character to be successful in the Test arena,” James added.
