AB de Villiers who suffered an elbow injury when he was playing for Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament this year. While Morne Morkel suffered a back injury in the same tournament. Both are in recovery stages now and almost fit.

But for proving their fitness level, they have to first play for Titans and have to please the selectors that they are totally fit and are in a good shape to represent their country in for the test series against Sri Lanka next month.

de Villiers’ injury was very serious as he missed all important series which included one against touring New Zealand at his backyard and other against Australia which was also played in his motherland. He also missed the tour down under where his test team beat Australia in their own backyard 2-1 under Faf du Plessis’ captaincy.

Titans told that AB will be available for the last two matches of their year’s T20 tournament. South African selector Linda Zondi wouldn’t take any risks unless AB is full fit to play for his national team. He is going to remain the captain of the side except Faf’s extraordinary captaincy skills which won them both ODI and test series against mighty Aussies.

Morkel’s case is a bit different as he travelled with the team throughout the test series down under but wasn’t ready to play. He will not play then next game for Titans and expected to play the last group stage match of theirs. But he is still recovering and is not ready to bowl for much longer so he is in doubt for tests against Lankans.

Meanwhile, opener Hashim Amla has got a neck injury when he was representing his country in the last test against Australia so he will be out of action from the domestic T20 league of theirs.
