It seems that South Africa got stuck to the injury tags with a couple of players fiddled out in an unfamiliar fashion. The latest to hit the headlines is the very own skipper Faf du Plessis who picked up an infamous lower-back injury while batting in the third ODI against Bangladesh at Buffalo Park in East London on Sunday.
The physio stormed across the turf to help Faf du Plessis who was batting on 91. Analysing the condition it is learnt that du Plessis is ruled out of full-fledged action for six weeks. This means that he won’t partake two-match T20I series against Bangladesh with the first one scheduled to be played tomorrow at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein.
Faf du Plessis is likely to be back in Boxing Day Test:
As per the quotes mentioned in Times of India, the South African team manager Mohammad Moosajee expressed the fact that, the skipper Faf du Pless is expected to be back in full swing in the Boxing Day Test against Zimbabwe starting on December 26. Considering the condition of the injury that he sustained a strain to his lower back, he needs a break for recovery.
“Faf consulted with our team of specialists in Cape Town on Monday. Further investigations and assessment have confirmed an acute lumbar disc injury. He will require a period of rest and rehabilitation for the next six weeks. We anticipate him to be ready for the Test match against Zimbabwe in December,” Moosajee said.
