BCCI has dropped a great news for domestic cricket players amid the ongoing IPL 2023 season. In his latest tweet, BCCI’s honorary secretary Mr. Jay Shah announced that the board has decided to increase the prize money of almost all the domestic tournaments by a huge margin. The biggest change has been made to the prize money of the highly esteemed Ranji Trophy.
The winning team of Ranji Trophy will be getting a prize money of Rs 5 Crores. This is a massive improvement compared to the previous prize money of Rs 3 Crores.
The runners-up team will now be getting 3 Crores instead of 1 Crores. The losing semi-finalists will be getting 1 Crores each (this amount was 50 lakhs before).
In his tweet, Jay Shah wrote: “I’m pleased to announce an increase in prize money for all @BCCI Domestic Tournaments. We will continue our efforts to invest in Domestic Cricket – which is the backbone of Indian Cricket. Ranji winners to get ₹5 crores (from 2 cr), Sr Women winners ₹50 lacs (from 6 lacs).”
However, Ranji Trophy is not the only domestic tournament that has seen an increment in its prize money.
For example, the winner of the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy will now be getting 50 lakhs instead of 6 lakhs. This is a massive increment.
