England etched its name in the record books by setting a new benchmark for the highest team total in ICC Champions Trophy history, amassing 351 for eight in their 50 overs against Australia at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday. This remarkable feat eclipsed New Zealand’s previous record of 347 for four, achieved against the USA in 2004 at The Oval.

The charge was led by opener Ben Duckett, who played a sensational innings of 165 off 143 balls — the highest individual score in the tournament’s history, surpassing Nathan Astle’s unbeaten 145. Joe Root provided strong support with a well-compiled 68 off 78 deliveries, and their 158-run partnership for the third wicket laid the foundation for England’s imposing total.

Jofra Archer added the finishing touches with a quickfire 21 off 10 balls, including 12 runs off the last three deliveries, pushing England past the previous record.
