Featuring in the 7th IPL final which is the most by any player in IPL saga, MS Dhoni is by far the connoisseur and undisputed champion the IPL fraternity has ever seen. Though he is not the leading the team, he still offers valuable captaincy tips to Steven Smith during crunch situations of the game be it field placements or rotating the bowlers at the right time.
Time and again we have seen MS Dhoni’s master plan getting clicked to perfection. Being the most experienced player, Captain Cool knows about Kieron Pollard more than anybody else. This time, Dhoni came up with a stellar tactic that he used against the Caribbean Pollard in 2010 season during his stint with Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians.
Plying his trade for Rising Pune Supergiant, MS Dhoni set the field placement when Kieron Pollard arrived at the crease in 10.3 overs. Adam Zampa was the bowler and he was belted for a six in the very first ball that saw Kieron Pollard getting off the mark in style.
In the last ball of Adam Zampa, in 10.6 overs, the Calypso steel Kieron Pollard hit straight to the long-on region which went like a tracer bullet. Manoj Tiwary who was standing at that area took the catch comfortably in his safe pair of hands which was all part of Dhoni’s plan.
The footage of MS Dhoni setting a trap for Kieron Pollard was caught and it is indeed a proof of the fact that the pioneer sets field placements better than anybody else.
