IND vs BAN: Team India has kicked off their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign on a high with an emphatic win over Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium last night. The Blues won the match by 6 wickets and have set the tone of the tournament right.
However, the victory could have been even more dominant for the Indian side had it not been for some disheartening fumbles on their part while fielding in the first innings. Captain Rohit Sharma missed a dolly catch on Axar Patel’s hat trick ball, which would have sent off Jaker Ali on a duck. He went on to make 68 runs and his partnership with Towhid Hridoy helped the Bangladeshis reach a fightable total of 228.

Winning the match was still barely a difficult task for the Indians, as they did not seem to struggle at any point in the second innings with the bat in hand. Thanks to a great start by openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, the Indian contingent looked confident to beat Bangladesh from the very beginning. The low total definitely added to that confidence.

Shubman Gill’s unbeaten ton (101* off 129) sealed the deal for Team India. The youngster made sure to stay on the pitch till the very end and see through the victory. Rohit Sharma’s 41 off 36 in the beginning and KL Rahul’s rock-solid 41* off 47 at the end were also strong contributors to India’s win.
The Indian players broke a number of records during the match against Bangladesh. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Shami were a few of those players who broke a number of records with their personal performances. Mohammed Shami, among them, broke as many as three records!
However, the more important fact of the hour remains that Team India has defeated Bangladesh in their first outing of the 2025 Champions Trophy and has successfully kicked off the campaign on a high.
