"The Last Dance": Fans get emotional on Twitter as CSK lift their 5th IPL trophy in most thrilling Final ever

“The Last Dance”: Fans get emotional on Twitter as CSK lift their 5th IPL trophy in most thrilling Final ever

Chennai Super Kings have won the Indian Premier League 2023, which takes their IPL trophies tally to 5, which is the joint most in the history of the competition alongside Mumbai Indians.

Tonight’s final was an absolute rollercoaster ride which seemed to be tipping in favor of the defending champions in the beginning but Chennai Super Kings turned the tables absolutely in the second half of the game. And many might argue that the rain played a big role in that.

It was due to rain that the total was reduced from 214 in 20 overs to 171 in 15 overs, making things much easier for Chennai Super Kings. They started off their chase in impeccable fashion smashing big shots from the very start as they knew it was totally a game of run rate only.

Sadly, the discussion of this being a ‘scripted match’ has been raised again by the end of this match and rightfully so because tonight’s final had way too many twists and turns. After Mohit Sharma picked up back to back wickets and the CSK middle order was dismantled including MS Dhoni’s duck, it seemed like the match was slipping away from CSK’s hands. However, they had been able to maintain a stable run rate till the very last over.

CSK needed 21 off 12 balls and 13 runs off 6 balls only. It was Mohit Sharma who made things difficult for them in the last over. In the first four deliveries, he gave away only 3 runs and all the pressure was on Ravindra Jadeja who was facing the last two balls.

The veteran played the next delivery for a straight six and suddenly the roles were reversed. The pressure was now on Mohit Sharma and Jadeja could toy with him mentally.

He ended up missing line in the last ball and Jadeja just nicked it for a four, winning the match and with it, the title for Chennai Super Kings.
