Amanjot Kaur wins it for MI: Today’s clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League 2025 ended in a nerve-wracking last two overs drama. The Mumbai Indians beat the defending champions by 4 wickets with one ball left, handing them their first loss of the season. This was an important victory for MI and might be game-changing for the tournament as a whole.
The Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first, the Royal Challengers Bangalore put up a respectable total of 167 runs, thanks to Ellyse Perry’s important knock of 81 off 43. However, that too would have been a winnable total for the Challengers, as they are known to have a pretty strong bowling attack. Thus, the job was only half done for the Indians.
The RCB bowlers started proving their mettle from the very get-go after sending off MI’s openers Yasika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews in quick succession. However, Nat Sciver Brunt and captain Harmanpreet took charge of the inning and their partnership made things better for the Mumbai Indians. The captain scored fifty runs while Nat scored 42 off 21.
However, things got really interesting after their dismissal. RCB was starting to make a comeback but it was then that Amanjot Kaur made sure that MI saw it through. They needed 22 runs in the last two overs to win the match and it was looking pretty difficult. Amanjot Kaur then scored 16 runs in the 19th over and turned the tables completely. She hit two sixes in that over.

MI then needed 6 runs in the final over. Ekta Bisht had the job to defend those 6 runs but it was a pretty difficult job to begin with and she failed to do so. 16-year-old Kamalini G hit a 6 on the 5th delivery to win the match in spectacular fashion.
