Team India have done the unthinkable and won two back-to-back ICC trophies. After winning the 2024 T20I World Cup, they have now won the 2025 Champions Trophy by beating New Zealand in the final of the tournament at the Dubai International Stadium. A lot of the credit for the win goes to their two veteran players – Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli always manage to give the fans some wholesome moments after winning trophies and this time was no different. After winning the 2025 Champions Trophy final tonight, the two players were spotted playing Dandiya with wickets, following which they embraced each other in a hug.

New Zealand won the toss tonight, marking Rohit Sharma’s 12th successive loss in a toss as India’s captain, and opted to bat first. After plenty hiccups in the initial phase, the kiwis were somehow able to put up a defendable total of 251 runs.
Coming in to chase, India were off to a beautiful start. However, after the fall of Shubman Gill’s wicket, courtesy of Glenn Phillips’ sensational catch, things became a bit shaky for them as they lost the wicket of Virat Kohli immediately after that. Thankfully, Rohit Sharma’s massive knock of 76 runs in 83 deliveries, followed by important knocks by Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel and KL Rahul, carried India successfully to the win.
This marks Rohit Sharma’s 2nd ICC championship as a captain. He needs one more to tie with MS Dhoni, who has 3 (the highest won by any Indian captain). If he is able to do that, the hitman will etch his name in the history books of Indian cricket and that too in an exceptionally small span.
