Since their formation in IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans have always been very keen in promoting young players through their ranks. Head Coach Ashish Nehra hasade sure to give their young talents a chance to prove their worth by including them in the playing XI time and again and that might be one of the prime reasons why they are such a successful team.
We saw yet another example of that today when young pacer Darshan Nalkande made his debut for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 in a match as important as Qualifier 1. He was also off to a perfect start in his first over and it would’ve been a dream debut over for him, had it not been for an unfortunate no ball.
Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl first. Nalkande bowled the very second over of the first innings. His first delivery was converted into a single and his second delivery a dot ball. In his very third delivery, he outsmarted Ruturaj Gaikwad with a sensational cutter and picked up his wicket. However, his celebrations were nullified by the umpires who declared it a no ball due to overstepping after a check.
As a result, not only was the dismissal made null and void, but CSK also got a free hit which Gaikwad hit for a fabulous six. Nalkande conceded 14 runs in that over as Gaikwad also hit a four in the very next ball.
After the over, Ashish Nehra was seen talking with Darshan Nalkande near the boundary line. He was probably giving him some advice and cheering him up after the no ball incident.
The moment was captured and shared on social media. It went viral in no time and the netizens started to praise Ashish Nehra for being a guide for players like Darshan Nalkande.
