Lancashire and Nottinghamshire took on each other yesterday in the 51st match of the ongoing Vitality Blast 2023 T20 league at the Trent Bridge stadium. It was a competitive match that ended in favor of Nottinghamshire Outlaws. During the match, Nottinghamshire’s Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled a sensational delivery to completely outmaneuver Lancashire’s Jos Buttler.
Lancashire had won the toss and opted to bowl first. Both their openers Phil Salt and Jos Buttler departed early on in the match leading to a big vacuum in their top order. As a result, they could only score a total of 145 runs. It was the third over where Shaheen Afridi tricked Jos Buttler completely with an outswing that toppled his off stump and the Englishman had to depart.
Jos Buttler has been suffering with his form for quite some time now. He was downright terrible in the IPL 2023 and that is being continued in the Vitality Blast as well. We sincerely hope that he gets his form back soon lest England might have to face a big problem in the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup as Jos Buttler has consistently been one of their best batters for the last few years.
Talking further about the match, it was Lancashire captain Liam Livingstone’s 34 runs knock that gave them a momentum and helped them achieve a total of 145 runs. Shaheen Afridi picked 2 wickets in the first innings.

In the second innings, opener Joe Clarke gave Nottinghamshire a brilliant start in the beginning with his 42 runs squad. They thus ended up winning the match pretty easily with an over and one ball to spare as the totall was marginally less. With this loss, Lancashire have dropped down to the 5th position on the points table while Nottinghamshire rose up to the 3rd position on the points table.
