IPL 2017: Corey Anderson hits 6000th six in IPL

Delhi Daredevils star all-rounder¬†Corey Anderson smashed 6000th six in IPL history during yesterday’s match against Kings XI Punjab at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi since its inception in 2008. The New Zealand productive asset smashed 39 runs in 22 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. DD won the match by a huge margin of 51 runs to register their second win of the tournament.

Corey Anderson did a brilliant job with both bat and ball against Kings XI Punjab. He was named the man of the match. DD was struggling in yesterday’s match when Corey Anderson came to the crease at 103 for 4 in 13.1 overs.

In the death overs, Corey Anderson, Chris Morris, and Pat Cummins smashed the Kings XI Punjab bowlers to score 35 runs in last 2 overs to help the hosts post a competitive 188 for 6. Zaheer Khan led team is currently in 3rd place with 2 wins and 1 loss.

The first six of Indian Premier League tournament was hit by Brendon McCullum in 2008 who played for Kolkata Knight Riders against Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. KKR won that match easily. McCullum scored 158* in the first match of the tournament with 13 sixes in that match. IPL has been a hit in every season with domestic and international players, coaches coming together to play.

Chris Gayle holds the record for most sixes in Indian Premier League history. He has smashed 255 sixes in 94 innings from 2009-2017. By scoring 3 runs in today’s match, Gayle becomes the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in T20 format. The left-handed batsman also has smashed the most sixes in an innings with 17 sixes against Pune Warriors India in 2013.

As far Indian batsmen are concerned, Rohit Sharma has scored the most sixes in IPL history with 163 sixes.
