The world may be condemning MS Dhoni for his flop show so far in the IPL 2017 as he only got 61 runs in the 5 innings he has played and hasn’t looked like Dhoni we know but the Cricket fraternity have backed him saying its just a matter of time before the former Indian captain will come back to form.
Be it Virender Sehwag, Mohammad Azharuddin or Shane Warne, now his team-mate of Chennai Superkings, Suresh Raina has added himself to the list by backing Dhoni. Raina has improved as a batsman under the leadership of MS, be it playing for India or CSK and it is cognisance of the fact that Raina has learned a lot from Dhoni.
Raina is disappointed that Dhoni is being criticised for his flop shows, “I was disappointed. He has done so well for the country as well as for the IPL teams. He should be always respected. It’s about not me saying, it’s the world saying,” the Gujarat Lions skipper said as per the reports in CricketNext.
The southpaw added that every player should be respected and it is not fair to blame Dhoni for few bad innings, “Having shared the dressing room with him (for India and CSK), you know what goes through when one faces hardships. He should be respected as a player. In any profession, be it as a player or a journalist, you need to be respected. Even a player, however short his career span may be, wants to earn respect.”
We all know that Dhoni is not only a world class player but also has been a great leader for India. Raina believes that this criticism doesn’t affect Dhoni at all and RPS should continue to bat him higher in the batting order.
“I don’t think so it will have any effect on him. He’s will be back among runs. Hope he will do well better after two-three matches. We have only played five matches. After some time the picture will be clear. He should bat up the order and bat long. He’s a world class finisher.” he said.
Both RPS and Gujarat Lions are struggling in this IPL so far and it will be interesting to see that how these two big players help their team to get out of the trouble.
