IPL 2017: Suresh Raina completed his 250th T20 match

India’s T20 specialist Suresh Raina completed his 250th T20 match when his team Gujarat Lions took on Royal Challengers Bangalore at SCA Stadium, Rajkot. He is currently the captain of Gujarat Lions squad who are at the 8th spot in ongoing VIVO IPL 2017 points table. The left-handed batsman made his T20 debut for India in 2006.

Since the inception of IPL in 2008, Suresh Raina played for Chennai Super Kings and has been a star in this format for men in Yellow. They have won the IPL title twice in which Suresh Raina have contributed to the team’s success. In the 250 matches played so far, the left-handed batsman has scored a total of 6589 runs with the best score of 109*.

He is the second Indian batsmen to score centuries in all three formats, the other being Rohit Sharma. Gujarat Lions have won only 1 match and lost 4 matches so far in IPL 2017 so far. Raina has scored 3 centuries in T20 format and 38 half centuries. Suresh Raina makes the batting look simple when he is on song. In the T20 series against England, Raina played an important role scoring 63 runs (2 fours, 5 sixes) in deciding match at Bengaluru.

Raina has not been a part of the Indian ODI squad for a while and this IPL provides a chance for him to reclaim his berth into the squad with good performances in this tournament for the upcoming Champions Trophy to be held in June this year.

The other Indian player to play most number of T20 internationals is MS Dhoni with 253 matches. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK won two IPL titles. He is currently playing as a player for Rising Pune Supergiant.
