When players pull out the best of endeavours on the shiny green turf, one could scratch the head finding adjectives to describe the athleticism of a player. Ever since the inception of Vivo IPL 2017, the game produced absolute ripper of catches, acrobatic fielding efforts, stellar comeback knocks, stylish shorts, towering sixes out of the park and much more.
This time around, Ben Stokes shot into prominence with a complete effort near the boundary rope. The incredible effort was so good to watch that fans would stand and appreciate that! In the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rising Pune Supergiant at the famous Chinnaswamy Stadium, Stokes wore the tag of a top-notch fielder.
During the 18th over of RCB’s batting en route to RPS’ run-chase of 162, RCB were struggling at 115/5 to get going against the quality bowling attack which they required 47 off 18 which clearly looked beyond the bounds of possibility as there were no big hitters around.
Shardul Thakur was the bowler and Stuart Binny was at strike and with few balls in hand, Binny had to go for the mighty one off Thakur’s bowling over the wide long-on region.
Ben Stokes was there watching the ball closely and almost pulled off a spectacular catch for a second and then threw the ball from his hand after losing his grip on the turf. It could have gone for a six but a belligerent effort from Stokes saved 5 runs for the RPS side.

Ben Stokes was named the man of the match for the first time in IPL jersey for his impressive bowling figures that recorded 3/18 in his quota of 4 overs with a staggering economy rate of 4.50 which is the best so far for Stokes.
