Mohammed Shami has been in absolute top form in IPL 2023 so far. He had already picked up 7 wickets before today’s match against Rajasthan Royals (which makes him the second highest wicket taker for GT after Rashid Khan) and he has started off today’s match in similar fashion.
In the very third over of the second innings, he picked up in-form batsman Jos Buttler’s wicket in exquisite fashion. He had been annoying him for the first four deliveries and he finally scalped his off-stump in the fifth ball of the third over.
He had been similarly brilliant in the first over as well. Shami has a great record against RR’s main man Jos Buttler and this shows the greatness of Mohammed Shami.
Talking about the match at hand, RR won the toss at Narendra Modi stadium and opted to bowl first. Gujarat Titans did pretty well in the first innings despite not being able to get a great start. They put up a target of 178 which is highly defendable seeing the great power that Gujarat possess in their bowling attack.
And as expected, they started showing their impact from the very first over of the second innings. At the end of the 13th over, Rajasthan Royals have scored 92 runs at the expense of four wickets.
Although captain Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer are on the pitch, it will be very difficult for RR to make a comeback from this tricky position if they lose even a single wicket.
All eyes are thus on captain Sanju Samson who has saved his team from situations like this multiple times before.
This is a high intensity match as RR and GT are two of the strongest teams in IPL 2023. GT defeated RR in the IPL 2022 final and it is now to see whether the Royals can avenge that defeat.
