Big names such as Pietersen, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Eoin Morgan, and Jason Holder who have been performing quite well have been released from their respective squads due to their poor performance in the last season. Gujarat Lions which debuted into the league along with Pune Supergiants has also bid farewell to a good number of players.

Delhi Daredevils decided to let go Pawan Negi, the biggest purchase of 2016 as his performance wasn’t satisfactory. Negi couldn’t justify the price tag either with the bat or the ball in the last season. Players like Irfan Pathan, Ishant Sharma, and Murugan Ashwin have surprisingly been released by Pune.

Gujarat Lions released the South African spearhead, Dale Steyn, and few other local picks. Kolkata Knight Riders have axed key players such as Colin Munro, John Hastings, Morne Morkel and Jason Holder. The players axed by Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore are not yet known since they haven’t released any official statement.

The tenth season of the IPL will start in the month of April only after the verdict of the Supreme Court. No contracts have been signed so far due to the ongoing issues between the BCCI and the Lodha Pannel. The future of IPL will be in the hands of Lodha Pannel and Supreme Court’s verdict.
