The Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who is finding it difficult to get back to the white ball form slammed a fine century in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy for Saurashtra. Jadeja has been retained by the Chennai Super Kings for this edition of the Indian Premier League.
Jadeja has revealed that the CSK skipper MS Dhoni had told him that he would be getting many opportunities with the bat in the upcoming season of the league and he should concentrate more on his batting. Dhoni’s advice to Jadeja has worked as a boost for the Indian all-rounder.
Dhoni has encouraged Jadeja to focus more on his batting.
It seems that Jadeja has taken Dhoni’s advice seriously as he came good in the Vijay Trophy fixture. Jadeja scored a fine 113 off just 116 balls which included 7 fours and 4 maximums as he led Saurashtra to a 4 wicket win against Jharkhand.
Jadeja said as quoted by New Indian Express, “Mahi bhai (Dhoni) told me that I will get batting opportunities in the IPL this year. He said that I have the ability of a proper batsman, and I am not the flash in the pan type of batsman. And I should think like that”.
Jadeja added that Dhoni’s words really encouraged him and he pushed harder for his runs despite suffering from a side strain in the match. Jadeja added, “It was really encouraging for me. So, I am concentrating more on the batting aspect of my game and trying to get used to playing the anchor role. If I am satisfied with the way I have bowled, I do not think much about other things. If I am executing my plans, I am happy”.
Chennai Super Kings will hope that Jadeja keeps his good form with the bat going and he can a great asset for the franchise. There is no doubt that Jadeja is a game-changer and Dhoni would be relying on him to play a major role in team’s success.
