There is some good news for English limited overs cricket fans as their captain Eoin Morgan and dashing opener Alex Hales both has returned to their one day international and T20 international teams for the upcoming tour of India.
Both Morgan and Hales were out of action in the whole Bangladesh series prior to the ongoing India series because of security fears and political tensions in Bangladesh. The chief selector of England, former captain Andrew Strauss had a say that if anyone do not want to go to Bangladesh then it is totally alright.
Strauss also stated long before the start of Bangladesh tour that if anybody backs out from that series, then it will be for their personal reasons and it will not affect their national team chances in future series. And he was true to what he said at that time. And he proved that right now.
Morgan has handled the team in a good manner after a disastrous world cup last year down under. He has been an impressive captain and also a decent batsman in this period of time. He hasn’t got many runs with the bat but his presence on the pitch proves to be vital for other players around him. It adds a captain’s confidence into other players.
When we talk about Hales, he is above par in the one day matches. He is in great form recently and enjoying a successful partnership at the top with Jason Roy. He is averaging over sixty in ODIs so his selection was never in doubt really.
But technically, both these players are very important for this current young English limited overs side. Hales will be a vital cog when England start the innings in the first power play because he can hit the ball very well and collect as many runs as he can while Morgan will be very crucial in the middle overs against Indian top class spin attack to stabilize the innings.
