The sides need to do equally well with the bat, ball and also in the field to achieve success on the field. However there are times when some individual brilliance by a particular player in one department makes the spectators go berzerk. On majority of the ocassions,the world has seen several incredible performances with the bat that changed the overall complexion of the game in a matter of few overs. Batters with their big hitting abilities have been a topic of discussion around the entire cricketing world ever since the evolution of T20 cricket and other shorter formats of the game. A similar moment took place recently in one of The men’s Hundreds match recently.
The 6th match of the Men’s Hundred 2023 saw Manchester Originals lock horns with the London Spirit at the Manchester. The Manchester originals were put into bat first by Spirit after having lost the toss. The side got off to a flying start as Buttler and Salt looked in impeccable tough right from the beginning. It was however Buttler who was seeming to be the deadlier of the two. He made sure that the bowlers couldn’t settle themselves at any point of time. It was in the 23rd ball of the innings that Buttler smashed a mammoth six which took everyone by surprise. Worrall bowled at just outside the off stump, a delivery that was picked up early by Buttler. The batsman made no mistake as he executed a brilliant swing of the bat to smash the ball high in the air and far too into the mid wicket region for a massive six. Buttler continued his heroics with the bat thereon as he brought up a fantastic fifty off just 29 balls. He was eventually dismissed for 62 by Ravi Bopara.
The game however was interrupted by rain on regular intervals and had to be abandoned eventually even before the first innings could be completed. The originals had scored 138 off 80 balls when the match was finally abandoned as both the teams had to share a point each.
