It seems like India’s tour of Sri Lanka has been the record tumbling series for Indian players. Firstly, it was Shikhar Dhawan followed by Pujara, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ashwin and now Ravindra Jadeja joins the party. He overtook the former Head coach, Anil Kumble in the recent record.
Second quickest to 150 wickets by an Indian:
Ravindra Jadeja became the second quickest Indian to reach 150 wickets after his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin. Ravindra Jadeja achieved the feat in 32 Tests while Ravi Ashwin smashed the very same record in 29 Tests. Anil Kumble was placed at the Third position along side Erapalli Prassana who galloped in 34 Tests.
Jadeja achieved the feat when he scalped Dhananjaya De Silva with an absolute peach of a delivery and finished first innings with bowling figures of 2/84. Before heading to the field to roll his arms he wielded his willow in the first innings to knock an unbeaten 70* runs.
Quickest left-arm spinner in the world to reach 150 wickets:
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja bettered the world class legendary left-arm spinners like Rangana Herath, Vinoo Mankad, Underwood, Tony Lock and Bishan Singh Bedi to stay comfortably at the top of the bowling charts.
Jadeja managed to scalp in 32 Tests while the above-mentioned players took as many as 40 Tests to register the same number of wickets. Bishan Singh Bedi did it in 41 Tests. The 8-match gap between Jadeja to second place shows that how Jadeja nullified the opposition to keep India on top.
Initially, Ravindra Jadeja has been ousted from the team a couple of years ago for his poor performance but came back to the side after performing tremendously in the first class cricket. Since his comeback, he has been exceptional for India and is currently the number 1 ranked bowler in ICC bowling charts.
