Record books shelve out as Day 3 concludes at Colombo

Honours shared at the end of Day 3 at Colombo in the second Test. India were clearly ahead in the context of the game while Sri Lanka are playing their heart out to save the game. Ashwin and Jadeja were the stars for India in the morning while Kusal Mendis and Dimuth Karunaratne stole the show.

After Sri Lanka started the day 3 on 50/2, they got an early jolt as Dinesh Chandimal lost his wicket quickly followed by Kusal Mendis. Angelo Mathews and Dickwella hold the crease for a certain of time but an outstanding grab from Cheteshwar Pujara once again opened the gates for India as Ashwin and Co sneaked in to rattle Sri Lanka’s first innings.

India enforced a follow-on in Sri Lanka after grabbing a colossal lead and was successful in striking quickly as Umesh Yadav clattered Tharanga’s wooden furniture. But that was the last laugh for Indians’ as Kusal Mendis and Karunaratne stitched on 191 runs partnership before losing Mendis for a brilliant 110 runs. Karunaratne (92) and Pushpakumara (2) are at the crease at the end of Day 3 play.
