The Indian Test team is on a roll, they had a dream last home season and they continued the same in Sri Lanka from where they left at home. The current rank number one side in the longest format has been on a fine journey and there seem to be no speed-breakers on the way. Virat Kohli has led from the front and when you see at this contingent of Indian players, you would find a lot of self-belief in their eyes.
The series win against the Sri Lankans is India’s eighth consecutive series win and they have ridden a very smooth journey all the way. They have been convincing in the manner they have won and have dominated oppositions handsomely. Only the great Australian team has managed to win 9 consecutive Test series during the time period of 2005-06 to 2007-08.
India is on a roll
All the players of the team have contributed whenever they have got the opportunity. The fast bowlers have shown great improvement during this period and they have played a pivotal role in India’s success.
India has two of the best spinners of the world in Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. You can not win a Test match without taking the 20 wickets and this is where the bowlers have come into play as they have been able to bowl the opposition twice.
India’s lower middle order is also an area where the team has shown great improvement. Saha, Ashwin, Jadeja have been getting the pivotal runs down the order and now India bats deep, which has made a massive difference in their success.
It has been a collective team effort from the Virat Kohli’s boys and they can be proud of the way they have played in the last couple of years. They have the confidence now and they will try to get better with each match.
It’s well said that reaching the top is slightly easier than being able to sustain it for a long time. India will now have to maintain that and this is where they will be tested.
