He vindicated all the criticism with his uniqueness, he built a fortress which is bound to stay strong for a long time to come and when the time came, quietly MS Dhoni retired from Test cricket. One of the most valiant and audacious skippers the game has ever seen, MS Dhoni has made a shocking decision to quit the captaincy duties from ODIs and T20Is and hand it over to Virat Kohli.

He has also announced that he will be available for team selection for the side. “Mahendra Singh Dhoni has informed the BCCI, that he wishes to step down as the captain of the Indian Cricket Team from the One Day Internationals and the T20 Internationals formats of the game,” Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a release.

Dhoni in his playing time as a skipper, literally achieved everything there is for grabbing. He also holds the record for playing most number of International matches as a captain. A fact that he has played 199 ODIs as a captain and finished his career 1 ODI short of an amazing landmark.

Its certainly an end of an era in Indian cricket, but many might say this is the right time to hand over the captaincy across all formats to Virat Kohli. Here’s how Twitter reacted to MS Dhoni’s decision.
