The change is obvious at any time may what be the opposition and the change was seen from Sri Lanka’s approach a tad later. Team India might have dawned crispy and sunny just like they always do but little did they know that Sri Lanka would claw their way back to strangle India’s batting unit as the scorecard reads 322/6.

India jetted off well and truly with the specialist opening duo KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan as they stood tall against the Lankans. The productive duo stitched together a 188-run partnership which is the highest ever opening run-stand against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.

Just after the dominant partnership, the sheen started to fade away as Sri Lanka got their collective rhythm back as the Indians threw their wickets away playing shots on a slow wicket. Pushpakumara once again showed his class with the ball as both the openers fell into the trap of this bowler.

Dhawan got out after making his 6th Test century whereas KL Rahul was almost there to scoop his century as well but fell 15 runs short. Pujara who was by far the utility batsman for India in the series faced a rare failure as he scored just 8 runs who fell prey to Sandakan’s hands. Rahane fell for 17 runs as Pushpakumara made a complete mess of his stumps.

The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli who is having a bad series so far had essayed 42 runs to his name got out off Sandakan’s peach of a bowling. Sri Lanka fought back with grit and determination to salvage their pride but it’s just a strong feeling that India are still way ahead with the flesh on the cards.
