The Indian blind team created history as they went on to win the World Cup by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan by just two wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Ground in the UAE. This is the second title that the Indian team has won. India and Pakistan are the only two teams that have won the Blind World Cup twice.
Pakistan had amassed a total of 308 in their quota of 40 overs after the Indian team had won the toss and put them in to bat. Pakistan batsman Badar Munir scored a fine half-century and with the contributions of 48 and 47 respectively by Riasat Khan and skipper Nisar Ali helped Pakistan in getting to a respectable score.
India won their second title.
The Indian team was able to get to the target in the penultimate over of the match and thus they lifted the coveted trophy for the second time. The Indian team got off to a good start as they were 111 for 1 in the fifteen overs.
Sunil and the Indian skipper Ajay Tiwari who scored a fine knock of 62 took the Indian total to 190 for 3. The Indian team struggled to get going in the later stages of the game but somehow held their nerves to get over the line.
Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan had defeated Sri Lanka to make their way into the final of the tourney whereas India was able to win against the Bangladesh team to book their place in the final of the tournament. Twitter fraternity congratulated the Indian blind team and Prime Minister also took to Twitter to send his best wishes to the team.
