Happy Birthday to the bulwark of Indian cricket that stood tall in all the crisis situations. Rahul Dravid is the pristine epitome of hard work, temperament, concentration, class, patience, determination, consistency, solidity, resistance, focus, humility and many other things that make him a modern great.
Dravid would always be the first one to raise his hand when the team would require one to take the onus of any particular role and he did succeed in most of them. It was always about putting the team before self for him and as rightly said by Harsha Bhogle he made himself look bad for the team to look good.
Rahul Dravid turns 45 today.
More importantly, Dravid took all those responsibilities that were thrown at him as challenges and not as an extra burden. He took them to get better and gave it all he had. Not all players can afford to take that kind of extra onus especially at the International level but Dravid had it in him to come up roses.
Rahul Dravid has been a gargantuan contributor to the Indian cricket and he is still doing the same as a coach for India A and Under-19 team. The Wall is showing the young lads the path that they should drive themselves on and he has greatly helped them in nurturing them.
The former Indian skipper picked his strokes like a magician and his patience at the crease to wait for the right balls was impeccable. It was his mental focus that helped him bat for long hours and the ability to fight the good work by the opposition bowlers. There was no denying the fact that he was one of the best Test batsmen ever to be produced not only in India but also worldwide.
Here is how Twitter wished him on his birthday:
