Team India failed miserably to put on a collective performance, a sort of rhythm that they are good at turning up quite often at their fortress. Sri Lanka finally found the answer to their questions to come out on top in a bid to beat the dominant Indians by 7 wickets at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

India’s No.4 batsman Dinesh Karthik created an infamous record which he would like to get over with it by putting on a solid performance in the games to come. An unsatisfying 18-ball duck from Dinesh Karthik saw him register a longest duck in ODIs that is not the one to remember at all.

Earlier, the former Indian skipper and current CAB President, Sourav Ganguly stressed the fact that Dinesh Karthik should bat at No.4 as long as he is performing. Coming in at that position, one can’t afford to play dull innings for long and get out for not scoring.

Though Dinesh Karthik had a decent outing in Windies tour as well as the home series against New Zealand, he couldn’t cope with the pressure of being consistent in that position. But the team’s lacklustre performance questioned every player’s statistics in which the fans singled out Dinesh Karthik as the scapegoat for the team’s low profile performance as he is coming in that important batting position.

Dinesh Karthik has a point to prove when India lock horns with the resurgent Lankans in the second ODI fixture at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali on December 13 (Wednesday).

Here is how Twitter slammed Dinesh Karthik’s longest ever duck in ODIs:
