Everything is hinting towards the fact that Team India will comfortably register a big victory against Pakistan in today’s Champions Trophy clash at the Dubai International Stadium. Firstly, the Blues were able to register a big feat by restricting Pakistan to a mere total of just 241 runs. Although it’s a defendable total for Pakistan, India should not have a big problem in winning the match from here, particularly seeing how they have started off in the second innings.
Both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started hitting well from both ends as soon as the second innings started and it was initially looking like both openers would give a good start to India and that is exactly what they did. However, Rohit Sharma had to depart after scoring 20 runs in 15 deliveries, courtesy of a brilliant delivery by Shaheen Afridi. It would have been ideal for India if their captain had scored a few more runs.
Shaheen Afridi has dismissed Rohit Sharma a couple of times and she did that once in Dubai back in 2021. He came up with another sensational delivery this time against the Indian captain and Rohit Sharma got clean bowled by the Pakistani veteran. It was a delivery worth watching. It would have had much more impact and Team India would have been put under pressure with this wicket, had the total not been so low.
Moreover, team India have Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and their loaded batting attack ready and thus it should not be that much of a struggle for them to achieve the total. Shubman Gill has already scored 43 runs in 47 deliveries, while Virat Kohli has scored 27 runs in 34 deliveries. Team India would want this partnership to win this match for them without another fall of wicket. That would lead to a statement victory against their arc rivals.
