Earlier, VVS Laxman made the prediction for India-Australia ODI series that read 4-1 and just the way he predicted, India wrapped up with a convincing 4-1 win; he got it spot on. But now, the action tunes to the T20I format and this time around, Virender Sehwag made a prediction for the upcoming T20I series and it comes as no surprise for the fans.

The first of the three match series is scheduled to be played tomorrow in MS Dhoni’s hometown, Ranchi at JSCA Stadium. Barsapara Cricket Stadium will be hosting it’s first ever match on October 10 and that’s where the second match will be played. The third and final ODI will be played on October 13 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Hyderabad.

Sehwag’s prediction:

Virender Sehwag emphasised that India can make all the three matches count to bluewash the Men in Yellow and that would confirm India staking claim for No.2 spot in ICC T20I rankings. Sehwag feels India have the upper hand to make all three right because they have already achieved the feat against them in Australia.

“I think India will win 3-0 in the T20 series because we have beaten them 3-0 in Australia. So, I think we can easily beat Australia 3-nil in our own backyard,” Virender Sehwag said while speaking to India TV’s “Cricket Ki Baat” show from Ranchi.

Openers to fire:

Shikhar Dhawan is back to wield his bat and his gumption alongside Rohit Sharma would set the tone for India according to Sehwag. With the kind of form, both the specialist openers have been through, it is just about continuing the slick passage of play. It will be interesting to see how the openers set the stadium on fire in a power-packed entertaining T20I series.

“I think Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma will open in the T20Is. Both of them had a good series in Sri Lanka and then Shikhar had to leave because of a family problem. But now when he is back, he will get a chance to play. And talking about Rohit, he scored a century in the last ODI against Australia so he will surely get a chance,” Sehwag added.

Amidst all focus are on India, Australian side cannot be taken easily as they too have the firepower in their ranks to send India into troubled waters. According to Sehwag, Warner and Finch can cause chaos to India. “I think David Warner and Aaron Finch can be dangerous for India in the T20 series. Both the Aussie openers have regained their form in the ODI series and if they are there till 10 or 15 overs, they can win the match for Australia,” Sehwag signed off.
