It seems like Sri Lanka found a new way in tackling Indian batting as made a dramatic comeback in the Third Test to make themselves sit in the driving seat comfortably at the end of stumps on Day 1. The first half of the day completely belonged to India while the latter half was owned by Sri Lanka riding on the exceptional bowling piece from Sandakan and Pushpakumara.

Initially, India yet again won the toss and asked Sri Lanka to roll their sleeves in order to bowl. KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan dominated the show as they displayed complete authority on the Sri Lankan bowling attack. Former missed yet another century after failing to convert brilliant 85 while Dhawan knocked a fantabulous century in a style.

After the completion of the century, Shikhar Dhawan celebrated it in a unique fashion by giving a ‘V’ gesture to the dressing room rather than his usual moustache celebration. However, after the completion of the century, Dinesh Chandimal hold on to a magnetic catch at square-leg that flew from the meaty part of Shikhar’s Willow.

The catch from Dinesh Chandimal opened the gates for Sri Lanka as the bowler sneak in the moment and rattled Indian middle order to get the honours on Day 1. India are at 329/6 at the end of Day 1 with Wriddhiman Saha (13*) and Hardik Pandya (1*) on the crease.

Sandakan and Pushpakumara are the stars for Sri Lanka as the former took a couple of wickets while Pushpakumara struck thrice. Fernando got the Ashwin’s edge to give a complete day for Sri Lanka at Pallekelle.

After Dhawan walking back to his room, Rahul shared a light moment with Shikhar by giving the same ‘V’ gesture to him.
