Now that Shikhar Dhawan is back to swing his blade and his return itself is a perfect tonic to set the T20I mode on fire. This not only comes as a good news for India and its fans but also for Rohit Sharma who missed his partner in the recently-concluded ODI series. Ajinkya Rahane fulfilled the expectations of what a third opener can do to cover the space in Shikhar Dhawan’s absence.

Shikhar Dhawan is not here to explore the question of form. He is firmly in the frame and he does not want to contemplate too much on that. Dhawan has had good outing in Sri Lanka and rediscovering his attacking instincts at home might not be a matter of concern. For Dhawan, he wouldn’t be resting on his laurels quite often but would be aiming to up his ante.

Dhawan’s practice session:

The reliable opener has had enough training session to find his rhythm back and must be curious to insert his measured approach to forge into a thick of action. The serene knack of connecting the balls to pinpoint guile is his speciality and if that’s what means to happen in the opening contest, then that is certain to give India a massive advantage.

Shikhar Dhawan to go all guns blazing:

The specialist opener loves playing against Australia and it would be interesting to see how to takes up the challenge in the hours to come. According to former Indian batting great, Virender Sehwag, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma will start the innings. Both are in good nick and smothering the Aussies won’t be an issue.

“I think Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma will open in the T20Is. Both of them had a good series in Sri Lanka and then Shikhar had to leave because of a family problem. But now when he is back, he will get a chance to play,” said Virender Sehwag on India TV’s “Cricket Ki Baat” show from Ranchi.
