We have witnessed trademark celebration of Dhawan twisting his moustache often on the field but this time i.e in the third Test against Sri Lanka at Pallekelle, he did it in a unique way. He continued his glorious form with his sublime willow and stroked crispy drives to all corners of the park to bring his sixth Test century of his career and second in the series.
Shikhar Dhawan was on 99 when Pushpakumara was about to deliver his second over in the match. Dhawan knocked the ball towards the cover region to bring his fifth away from home Test century in just 107 deliveries. As soon as Shikhar Dhawan concluded his century he was seen taking his Helmet and gloves off and gave a ‘V’ gesture with his both hands.
There might be something fun going on regarding the ‘V’ gesture as everyone in the dressing room and the non-striker Pujara burst into laughter. However, Shikhar Dhawan will be the one to reveal it after the end of Day 1. Meanwhile, he joined Pujara and Sehwag in scoring 3 centuries in Sri Lanka.
India are in the driver’s seat at Pallekelle as they are pretty comfortably scoring at over 4 runs per over. At the time of Dhawan’s century, India were 195/1. Earlier in the match, KL Rahul missed his yet another century in the Test match and became only Indian in the Test cricket to knock seven consecutive fifties.
